What is RTP?
RTP (return to player) is the percentage of all money wagered on a slot machine that the game returns to players over an infinite number of spins. It is expressed as a percentage and represents the theoretical long-run payout rate of the game.
Example: a slot with 96% RTP returns 96 for every 100 wagered — on average, across millions of rounds. The remaining 4 is the house edge, which funds the casino's operating costs and margin.
RTP is set by the game developer and certified by an independent testing lab (eCOGRA, BMM, GLI, iTech Labs) before the game goes live. It cannot be changed during a play session and is not affected by previous results. No matter what happened on the last 50 spins, the next spin's probability distribution is identical.
Casino Game RTP Comparison
RTP varies significantly by game type. Table games with optimal strategy consistently outperform slots — but slots offer higher volatility and jackpot potential that table games cannot match.
| Game | RTP | House Edge | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blackjack (basic strategy) | 99.5% | 0.5% | Rule-dependent; 6-deck standard rules |
| Video Poker (Jacks or Better 9/6) | 99.54% | 0.46% | Full-pay table required for this RTP |
| Baccarat (banker bet) | 98.94% | 1.06% | Commission applies to banker wins |
| Craps (pass line + full odds) | 98.6% | 1.4% | Odds bet reduces effective house edge |
| European Roulette | 97.3% | 2.7% | Single zero wheel only |
| American Roulette | 94.74% | 5.26% | Double zero — nearly twice the edge; avoid |
| Online Slots (high RTP) | 96–99% | 1–4% | Game and operator tier dependent |
| Online Slots (average) | 93–96% | 4–7% | Industry average is ~95–96% |
| Keno | 70–80% | 20–30% | Worst odds of any casino game type |
How RTP Is Calculated
Slot RTP is calculated from the game's pay table and reel configuration. For each possible outcome, the probability of that outcome occurring is multiplied by the payout for that outcome. Summing all of these gives the expected return per unit staked:
RTP = Σ (probability of outcome × payout for that outcome)
For a modern video slot with bonus rounds, the calculation includes every possible base-game result and every possible bonus round result, weighted by how often each triggers. Bonus rounds typically contribute 30–50% of a high-volatility slot's total RTP, which is why enabling the bonus buy feature at 100× stake on a feature-rich game often produces a different (sometimes lower) effective RTP than the base game alone.
What Counts as a Good RTP?
As a practical reference:
- 97%+ — excellent; seek these out
- 96–97% — good; competitive with most operators
- 95–96% — average; fine for casual play
- 94–95% — below average; avoidable
- Below 94% — poor; avoid unless the game has specific appeal
The industry average sits at roughly 95–96%. High-RTP outliers above 98% exist — primarily older NetEnt and Microgaming titles (e.g. Ugga Bugga, Mega Joker, Blood Suckers) — but they are increasingly rare in new releases from major studios.

JILI Slot RTP — Live RTP Tracker
JILI (JILI Games) is a Taiwanese slot provider dominant in Southeast Asia and the Philippines. Many Asian online casinos and crypto platforms feature JILI titles. JILI does not publish a single fixed RTP for all titles — some platforms display a "live RTP" dashboard showing real-time return percentages for active sessions, which is what "rtp live jili" searchers are typically seeking.
Published JILI slot RTPs (where declared by the provider):
| JILI Slot | RTP | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fortune Gems | 97.14% | High RTP; popular on PH platforms |
| Money Coming | 97.0% | Classic fruit machine format |
| Mega Ace | 96.8% | Card game mechanic |
| Golden Empire | 96.74% | High-volatility feature game |
| Boxing King | 96.3% | Action-themed slot |
Important: JILI RTP figures vary by operator configuration — the same game may run at different RTPs at different casinos. Check the in-game info panel to confirm the RTP your specific platform is running, not the published default.
PG Soft Slot RTP
PG Soft (Pocket Games Soft) is a Malta-licensed provider with widely distributed published RTPs. Most PG Soft games run at 96.71–96.95% RTP — consistently in the "good" range. PG Soft publishes certified RTPs on its official game pages, which is useful for verification.
| PG Soft Slot | RTP | Volatility |
|---|---|---|
| Mahjong Ways | 96.95% | Medium-High |
| Mahjong Ways 2 | 96.95% | High |
| Ganesha Fortune | 96.93% | Medium |
| Wild Bandito | 96.71% | High |

RTP vs Volatility
RTP and volatility are independent dimensions. A slot can be high-RTP and high-volatility, or low-RTP and low-volatility. Confusing them is the most common slot-maths mistake.
RTP tells you the expected cost per spin over the long run.
Volatility tells you how that cost is distributed across individual spins.
A 97% RTP, very-high-volatility slot might go 300+ spins between meaningful wins while delivering its theoretical payout through occasional 1,000× bonus rounds. A 95% RTP, low-volatility slot pays small amounts on most spins but costs more per hour of play. Neither is objectively better — they suit different session goals and bankroll sizes.
Operator RTP Tiers
Some providers — notably Pragmatic Play, Play'n GO, and Blueprint Gaming — ship certain titles with multiple certified RTP configurations. An operator can choose which to deploy.
A common structure: 94% / 96% / 98%. The provider advertises the 96% default. A cost-cutting operator may deploy the 94% tier; a player-friendly operator may run 98%. The same game, same RNG, different house edge.
OddsBully records the default RTP as published by the developer. If you suspect your casino runs a lower tier, check the game's info panel (most modern games display the active RTP) or ask support directly.
How to Check a Slot's RTP
Three reliable sources, in order of preference:
- In-game info panel — press the ℹ or ≡ icon in any regulated slot. The active RTP is required to be displayed in most jurisdictions. This shows the RTP your casino is running, not just the default.
- Provider website — most major studios publish a game page with declared RTP for each title.
- OddsBully — our database aggregates verified RTP from provider feeds for {'>'}800 titles. Filter by RTP band, sort highest-first, or go straight to the RTP rankings page.
FAQ
- What does RTP mean in casino games?
- RTP stands for Return to Player. It is the percentage of all money wagered that a game returns to players over millions of rounds. A 96% RTP game returns $96 per $100 wagered on average — across all players, not per individual session.
- Is a higher RTP always better?
- Yes — all else equal, a higher RTP means less expected cost per spin. A 97% RTP slot returns 97 for every 100 wagered on average; a 94% RTP slot returns 94. The 3-point difference compounds significantly over a session. However, high-RTP games often have lower volatility and smaller max wins — some players prefer the trade-off.
- What is a good RTP for an online slot?
- Above 96% is generally considered good. Above 97% is excellent. Below 94% is poor value. The industry average sits around 95–96%.
- What is RTP live JILI?
- "RTP live JILI" refers to real-time payout tracking tools for JILI slot games, widely used on Southeast Asian and Philippine online casino platforms. Some sites display live return percentages for JILI titles. Published RTPs for JILI games range from 96–97.14%.
- What is PG Soft RTP?
- PG Soft (Pocket Games Soft) slots typically run at 96.71–96.95% RTP. Top titles: Mahjong Ways (96.95%), Mahjong Ways 2 (96.95%), Ganesha Fortune (96.93%), Wild Bandito (96.71%). PG Soft publishes certified RTP on its official game pages.
- Can a casino change the RTP of a slot?
- Some providers offer operator-selectable RTP tiers. The game software ships with multiple certified RTP configurations (e.g. 94%, 96%, 98%); the operator chooses which to deploy. The advertised default is usually the middle tier, not the highest. Always check the in-game info panel for your specific casino's active RTP.
- Does RTP matter for short sessions?
- Less than most people think. In a 100-spin session, variance dominates. You could profit on a 94% RTP slot or lose heavily on a 97% one. RTP's mathematical effect becomes statistically meaningful only over thousands of spins.
